  • FREE Hula Hoop Social Club Dudley  - a free hula hoop session open to all to practice hooping, learn to hoop, meet new people and have fun! The first Saturday on every month except for May, at Dudley Community Cafe, Stafford Street, Dudley DY1 1RT (1st April,  3rd June, 1st July, then break for the summer).
  • Spinsonic Hoop Class Smethwick - beginners hula hooping, hoop dance & circus tricks: with Rachel every Tuesday evening from 18.10.16, 6.30-7.30pm at Thimblemill Library, Smethwick.
  • Spinsonic Hoop Class Harborne/Edgbaston- beginners hula hooping, hoop dance & circus tricks: with Rachel every Friday evening term time starting the 28th April, from 7-8pm at Lordswood Boys School, Hagley Road, Birmingham.
  • Sandwell Adult Services Hoop Class, beginners hula hooping at the Portway Lifestyle Centre, Oldbury every Thursday term time from 2-3pm. £2.50, payable to the Adult Services team on the day.

Spinsonic Hula Hoop Clubs are drop in classes suitable for all levels.  Beginners always welcome! These are friendly, fun classes where you can learn to hula hoop for fun or fitness at your own pace.  You can learn hula hoop tricks, transitions and work on developing your hoop flow.

Classes will cost £5 per adult (16 and over) and £3 per child (over 7) - all children must be accompanied by a full paying adult.

No need to book in advance, just turn up.  Adult and childrens hoops of different weights and sizes are provided for use in class, and at the start of each class I will find the right size hoop for you - you can change hoops at any time if you want to
try several different ones out!

Everyone can hoop! Really!

Adult size hoops and grip tape help the hoop stick to your hips. No dance experience required.  Hooping is a low impact form of exercise and can be modified for all fitness levels.


We will begin with a warm up, and over the term learn waist hooping, hand hooping, a variety of on and off body moves, and transitions that will turn the basic moves into hoop dance routines.  Each session will finish with a mini Hoop Jam, where you can practice what we have learnt to music and ask for help with anything you want to go over again.

Please arrive a few minutes early for your first lesson to fill in the paperwork.

Hoop dance isn't only the best fun ever, it is fantastic exercise to music that provides a great cardio workout, tones your core muscles, improves flexibility and balance, and increases confidence in yourself, your body, and can also be an aid to meditation as you feel your movement within the hoop!

Professional adult size hoops will be provided for use in the class, you can try a few out to see which is best for you.


What Should I Wear/Bring to Hoop Class?

You can wear anything you like, but you will get hot and sweaty, so  loose comfortable clothing and trainers or gym shoes is ideal.  But you don't need any special clothing to get hooping, just come and play!   Bring a bottle of water, to keep yourself hydrated.


The Benefits of Hula Hooping

Hooping makes you smile, makes you forget that this is exercise - it's dancing and playing for adults!   While you are having a good time you are doing fantastic things for your body.  The workout alone releases endorphins that make you feel happy and energised.  Many people find the rhythmic circling of the heavy hoop meditative and calming.   It also builds your core strength, strengthens your abdominals (with a balanced diet, you can soon whittle away your waist!), tones arms, thighs and buttocks, develops balance and co-ordination, increases your flexibility, and can enhance your self confidence and creativity.



A Liability Waiver Form must be signed and a Parq form must be completed before attending class. By participating in class, you agree to all terms in the waiver. You can do this at the class, or download them by clicking the links and filling them in at home and bringing them with you on the day.  If you have any question as to if you are able to participate in the class, you are responsible for contacting your doctor ahead of time.
